Using Click Bond’s AR-guided technology, Vertical Aerospace shortened the installation time for 9,500 of our fasteners on its VX4 from 3 months to 5 days.
Transforming eVTOL Assembly with AR-Driven Precision
Click Bond began working with Vertical Aerospace in 2022 to explore how emerging technologies could accelerate eVTOL assembly. That vision became reality in 2025, when our AR-powered Digital Solutions were fully integrated into the build of Vertical’s second and third VX4 aircraft.
Using Click Bond’s AR-guided technology, the Vertical team reduced fastener installation time—from over three months to just five days for 9,500 bonded fasteners—while increasing placement accuracy and ensuring consistent quality.
Together, we’re scaling what started as a bold idea into a repeatable, production-ready solution that’s redefining how next-gen aircraft are built.

With the VX4’s lightweight composite structure, the team at Vertical realized the benefits of adhesive-bonded fasteners, including eliminating the need to drill holes in the structure, reducing installation time, and reducing weight. But with 9,500 surface mounts and rivetless nutplates being installed on the vehicle, the Vertical team wanted to take it a step further, enhancing the speed and accuracy of the installation process.
For the build on the second and third VX4 aircraft, Click Bond’s Digital Solutions use an AR-powered headset to project 3D placement templates onto the airframe, replacing the traditional 2D paper markup method. This intuitive process not only saved technicians an extraordinary amount of time on part placement, but also introduces validation and quality control, ensuring greater precision than ever before.
