Local High Schoolers “GEAR UP” for Manufacturing Careers in Watertown
The Watertown team hosted 10 students from a local high school and two instructors from GEAR UP CT – Waterbury branch on November 30, 2022.
The Watertown team hosted 10 students from a local high school and two instructors from GEAR UP CT – Waterbury branch on November 30, 2022. Leading the group of visitors was Rosemary Agati, the Program Coordinator for Waterbury (and the wife of our Manufacturing Engineer, Vincent Agati). GEAR UP is a federally funded program established to increase college and career readiness by empowering local students to see future opportunities. The organization provides the tools, resources, and programs to help students — starting as early as middle school — increase their success in education.
Rosemary attended our Manufacturing Day open house in October and felt Click Bond could be a great stage for learning and understanding manufacturing opportunities in the local area. She reached out to us to set up the student tour, and the entire team jumped on the opportunity to share our purpose and what we do here at Click Bond.
The visitors heard a presentation about what Click Bond does and the impact we make, not only with aerospace, but also the automotive and defense industries. Then they were given a tour of the plant, visiting each individual department and learning about the employees’ various roles within the company.
The students were very engaged and interested, even sending us thank you cards for the holidays after their visit. They were all so thankful to have been presented with this opportunity, and we were pleased to see so much enthusiasm among these talented young people.
